What I Believe

Tolstoy tells how he came to understand the teaching of Christ, and above all the command not to resist evil, and what that understanding changed in his life and in his view of the Church, the state and the world.

The English text is the translation by Constantine Popoff (1886, public domain), as transcribed at English Wikisource. The Romanian „Credința mea” on this site was translated from it, except chapters 6 and 10, which are translated in full from Tolstoy’s Russian original.
